๏รัฐธรรมนูญของสาธารณรัฐแอฟริกาใต้ ๑๙๙๖ มาตรา ๒๔:

ทุกคนมีสิทธิ – (ก) ในสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ไม่อันตรายต่อสุขภาพหรือความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี และ (ข) ในสิ่งแวดล้อม
ที่จะต้องปกป้องไว้เพื่อประโยชน์ของปัจจุบันชนและอนาคตชน โดย (๑) ป้องกันมลพิษและการเสื่อมโทรมทางนิเวศ

(๒) ส่งเสริมการสงวน และ (๓) ท�าให้มั่นคงซึ่งการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนทางนิเวศ และการใช้ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ ในขณะ
เดียวกัน ส่งเสริมการพัฒนาทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมที่ชอบธรรม
(Everyone has the right— (a) to an environment that is not harmful to their health

or wellbeing; and (b) to have the environment protected, for the benefit of present and future
generations, through reasonable legislative and other measures that— (i) prevent pollution and
ecological degradation; (ii) promote conservation; and (iii) secure ecologically sustainable develop-

ment and use of natural resources while promoting justifiable economic and social development.)

รัฐต้องปกป้องและปรับปรุงสิ่งแวดล้อม และดูแลน�้า อาหาร และดิน ป่าไม้และสัตว์ป่าของประเทศ
(The State shall protect and improve the environment and safeguard the water, air

and land, forest and wild life of Nigeria.)

ชน แต่ละบุคคลต้องปกป้องและปรับปรุงสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ตนเองอยู่

(Any person has the right to a healthy environment. The State has the obligation to
protect the environment in the interest of present and future generations. Each one is required
to contribute to the safeguarding and to the improvement of the environment in which he lives.)
