1. An overview of the international human ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
rights situation ○ ○ ○ ○
At present, human rights and democracy are the subject of ○ ○ ○
global concern. Apart from the State, more actors such as ○ ○
individuals, civil society groups, social and political movements ○ ○ ○
have a greater role to promote and protect human rights in various ○ ○ ○
aspects world-wide. ○ ○ ○
Since the inception of the United Nations, there has been ○ ○ ○
much progress in international arena. The Commission on Human ○ ○ ○
Rights was then established, followed by the adoption of the ○ ○ ○
1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and a number of ○ ○ ○
international human rights treaties. The appointment of the ○ ○
High Commissioner for Human Rights, and a wide range of ○ ○ ○
international meetings to address the issues concerning human ○ ○ ○
rights have emphasised how the international community attaches ○ ○
