SWEDISH CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT, 2003.
Since January 1, 2003, the Constitution of Sweden states
that the public sector shall counteract discrimination on grounds
of gender, ethnicity, religious and belief, disability and sexual
orientation. The provision is not legally binding and thus
cannot be directly relied upon in litigation before the courts in
individual cases. The legally effective provision is found in
anti-discrimination legislation of 1999 which bans discrimination
in employment on the basis of sexual orientation.
