Summary: Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) believes that media has an important role to play in the promotion and protection of indigenous peoples rights as well as their inclusive participation in decision making and social equity. With this belief, AIPP established the Indigenous Voices in Asia Network (IVAN) as a platform to promote solidarity and cooperation among journalists and indigenous activists in advancing and defending media freedom, freedom of information, indigenous peoples rights and democracy in Asia. Through the network, AIPP has been empowering indigenous media professionals and rights activists through capacity building activities, engaging with national and regional government bodies for greater access to information, assisting indigenous communities to set up their own community media centers and producing multimedia and educational materials about indigenous peoples rights and issues. The Radio Program Guide on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is another effort of AIPP and IVAN to raise public awareness about the rights of indigenous peoples through community and mainstream radios. The Guide is part of the series of interrelated educational and training materials on the UNDRIP produced by AIPP.
