because the truth is the truth. We come here only to demand
our justice, not to bully or cause trouble to anyone.”

For almost 7 long years, Rak Ban Haeng Conservation Group,

Ban Haeng Subdistrict, Ngao District, Lampang Province, has been
struggled to oppose the lignite mining concession on over 1,500 rai of
land. Today, the case they filed to the Administrative Court requesting

revocation of the concession given to the private company is being
adjudicated.

In 2008, Khiao Lueang Co. Ltd. came to the area to seek
approval for the project, which involves planting trees for paper. Two
years later, the tree-planting project turned into a request for a lignite

mining concession. The villagers disagreed with this concession and
since 2010, they have openly expressed their opposition to the mining

project in their area because it did not undergo proper legal processes
and the community was not seriously consulted. Villagers and
farmers in the community have gathered to form Ban Haeng
