                       People from Pakbang Subdistrict, Thepha District, Songkla
               Province stated to organize “Khon Rak Thepha” (Love Thepha) Network
               after the report of the plan to build the largest coal-fired power plant
               in Thailand with 2,200 MW capacity that extends 3 kilometers into the
               sea on 3,000 rai of land along the seacoast.
                       Even though the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand
               (EGAT) conducted a public consultation. There were many criticisms
               that the consultation did not implement properly according to the law.
               It was simply a “ritual.” Villagers did not have access to the information
               regarding the impacts of building the power plant, especially to the
               natural resources and traditional livelihoods, which may be critical
               not just in Pak Bang Sub-district but may extend to Pattani Province.
                       The fight of villagers began with the campaign that raised
               awareness and informed the public about the impacts of coal-fired
               power plant as well as the abuse of power in pushing forward the
               project by the government. Local scholars supported the research of
